PDO Red Wine
Learn more
Our PDO Red is our first Protected Designation of Origin wine. Slightly less powerful than our famous Inspiration red wine, this wine is an asset on the table due to its smooth, fruity aromas. Widely loved, we recommend this wine year round to those looking for a versatile, quality wine.
Our PDO Red is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan grape varieties. This wine is vinified between 20 and 25 ° C with extended macerations of approximately four weeks.
Unique soil, select grape varieties, and traditional winemaking methods make this wine both structured and supple, with dominant aromas of black fruits, plums, and spices. The tannins found in this wine give it a good length in the mouth.
Pairings
Our PDO red wine is a wine for pleasure. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to large traditional meals, red meats, cured meats, and quality French PDO cheeses.
Tasting advice

Awards
Our PDO Red regularly wins medals at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris. In 2018, it won the gold metal, and in 2014 and 2019 the silver medal.
The Concours Général Agricole in Paris allows farmers across France to compete against their peers in select categories. Year after year, Château Virant continues to medal with its wines and its olive oils, making it one of the most awarded estates in all of France.
Our PDO Red wine also frequently wins medals in the Aix-en-Provence competition. In 2020, this wine won the silver medal.
The Aix-en-Provence competition recognizes the best wines of the Aix-en-Provence PDO category. It is a competition of producers whose wines are judged by the professionals in the industry. Château Virant, with its many quality vintages, is a frequent winner in this competition.
