The Vineyards and Discoveries label was created in 2009 by Atout France, the France Tourism Development Agency. This esteemed agency is responsible for promoting the tourism economy in France. Awarded every three years, this distinction honors select tourist and wine-growing destinations in France.
Château Virant has obtained the Vineyards and Discoveries label, a guarantee of quality and a commitment from the estate to wine tourism services and hospitality. Château Virant is currently one of the most visited estates in the Provence wine route.
Located 30 km from Aix-en- Provence, Château Virant invites visitors to discover and experience the estate. A visit will awaken the senses: you can hear the sound of tractors, feel the heat of the sun on your skin, and inhale the fresh scent of our tall pines. We appreciate the taste of wine from the South of France, and we welcome you to walk our vineyards and learn our story.
The buildings that make up our estate are also worth a visit. Be sure to explore the old sheep pen dating from the 17th century, perfectly renovated in the style of the time, and of course our famous cellar which houses the good wines of the estate and where select wines continue to age. Each year, we observe the same traditional wine-making seasons: the art of blending in spring, the harvest at the end of summer, the vinification and aging in autumn, and finally, the calm of the winter season. The cellar master, Sébastien, and his team proudly welcome visitors to their domain to show them first hand where the wine-making magic happens.
The Château Virant estate is open daily, including weekends, to welcome visitors. It is free to enter. The estate is for everyone, young and old, wine lovers and those just curious to learn more. Stroll the vineyard, taste the wines, visit the cellar or the museum. There is something for everyone.
The Vine and Olive Museum at Château Virant presents a perfect opportunity for those looking to learn about the craft and history of wine making. The museum houses old tools of the trade and also shows a film about wine production on the estate. It also offers a sensory exhibit to provide visitors with a unique perspective of the wine experience.
The Cheylan family is proud of their history, their land, and their acquired expertise. They are equally proud to share this knowledge and passion with visitors to their estate.
Robert Cheylan, the head of the family, guides tours through the vineyards, recounting the history of the estate through the years. Noële Cheylan leads presentations on the famous sunset wine of Château Virant. Christine Cheylan offers olive oil tasting seminars to share her expertise with the public. The estate is at the heart of the family’s life. Christine Cheylan even gifted the Vine and Olive museum to her father for his birthday.
To discover the vineyard of Château Virant is to experience a harmony between the land and those who work the land. The Cheylan Family and the whole team at Château Virant are committed to helping people discover this authentic natural and cultural gem in the heart of Provence.
The presence of Robert, Noële, Pascal and Christine at the estate is much appreciated by all visitors, whether local or foreign, as they are always given a kind word and special attention.
